A Tile Cleaning Service in Manhattan Removed All Traces of Dirt in the Ceramic Tiles of this Bathroom

July 25, 2017

A New York resident homeowner learned about our tile cleaning services in Manhattan thanks to a recommendation made by her next-door neighbors. She was concerned about the state of the bathroom floor in her son's room. He was returning home soon after years living abroad and she wanted the place to look spick and span to welcome him.

Before and After Picture of a Tile Cleaning Service in Manhattan, NY
Since the room was not being used on a daily basis, cleaning was not as thorough as it should have been. Therefore, layers of dust and dirt accumulated around the grout lines and the joints between the walls and the ceramic tile floor. The homeowner tried to clean the ceramic tiles herself, but no matter what she did, she was unable to remove all the dirt.

When talking to her neighbors about the situation, they advised her to contact Sir Grout New York's tile and grout hard restoration experts. The neighbors had already hired us before for a tile cleaning service in their kitchen and living room, and they loved the results. They even showed the mother some before and after pictures so she could see the change with her own eyes. Her friends convinced her, so the Manhattan resident gave us a call to learn more about our services and to finally schedule a free, in-home consultation for the bathroom.

Our team of hard surface experts went to the homeowner's residence that same week to perform a thorough evaluation of the bathroom floor. As they inspected the room, they noticed how discolored and stained the grout lines and the tiles looked. The Manhattan resident told our experts all about her failed attempts to clean the floor and remove the stains: concentrated cleaners, vinegar, bleach, baking soda, and even sandpaper. None of which worked. Our team explained to her that most cleaners in the market are soap-based, which means that rather than removing dirt, they leave a film that traps it. Also, vinegar and bleach may harm and etch grout and tile instead of cleaning it. As for sandpaper, it is often said that they are a quick and cheap method to remove grout stains; however, this material can scratch the tile and may even cause serious damage to the grout.

Fortunately for the homeowner, our experts had the perfect cleaning products and methods to restore the bathroom floor. They proposed a tile cleaning service plus a ColorSeal process for the grout. ColorSeal is a thick, water-based, acrylic sealer that makes grout stain-, water-, mold-, and mildew-resistant. Besides, ColorSeal changes the color of the grout so that it can match the tiles' shade. The resident agreed to the services right away so our experts started the job the following day.

Our team began the cleaning process using Sir Grout's proprietary tile and grout cleaner to loosen the embedded grime. To clean the tiles, they used a machine with a high-speed yet gentle scrubber that extracted all the unwanted dirt since the joints between the floor and walls were really dirty, they turned to vapor steam cleaning. Once the floor was deeply cleaned, they performed the ColorSeal process to protect the grout and to change its shade to a uniform, cream color.

The homeowner was impressed when she looked at the tile cleaning results. She couldn't believe how our team was able to restore the floor in just one day after she had been trying for months. Before leaving, our experts gave the homeowner some key recommendations to maintain the floor. First and foremost, they advised her to throw away all acidic-based or soap-based cleaners and use a soap-less, non-toxic option instead. Also, to prevent dirty cleaner residue from settling into the tiles and grout, they recommended to dry the floor with a clean towel or a terry cloth, instead of air drying it.
